MimiCof + Kalma VJ

MimiCof a.k.a. Midori Hirano is a Japanese musician, composer, sound artist and producer, based in Berlin, stems across a diverse range of genres and cultures. At the age of five Midori started learning the piano and this trigged what was to later see her study classical piano at university. Therefore her productions are based around the use of traditional instrumentation such as the piano or strings, but yet her works are so diverse and eclectic mixture of modern digital sounds with subtle electronic processing or field recordings. For her itʼs not about creating music in its traditional forms or cliché, but about playing, mixing and finding new ways of presenting music.

During her residency at EMS studio in 2015 she recorded sound materials by using Buchla analog synthesizer to produce her new album and she will be presenting it at this time of concert together with a visual artist Kalma.

Kalma is a visual performer that used real time processes to create installations, mappings and vj sets with unique atmospheres and unrepeatable experiences from moment to moment.
Her approach to the visual experience is intimately linked with her background of working with sound. It is spontaneous experimentation between both the languages of visual and audio with a minimal approach.
